About Rob Smith
Rob Smith became an artist at a young age, studying art in
grade school and through high school. He was attracted to
photography and took his first wet darkroom class in high
school. Rob proficiently learned new techniques to manipulate
images and began creating non-existent scenes through a
photographic style coined as Photo Unrealism.
Rob attended Towson University and pursued majors in Physics
and Photography. During this time he studied how and why light
reacts in filters, lenses, and cameras, as well as taking many
drawing and painting classes. Before long he broke out of the
wet darkroom and began taking Digital Photography classes.
This allowed Rob to become more expeditious with his art. He
spent countless hours in the digital studio, and he soon
became fluent in Photoshop programs. This allowed him to
flawlessly blend and manipulate images, and restore scratched
and faded photographs to virtually new condition. Rob Smith
received his Bachelor’s Degree of Science with a concentration
of Photography from Towson University.
While still in college Rob began photographing weddings. He
became a primary assistant to Shlomo Cohen Photography and
eagerly learned to adapt to ever changing situations. Rob’s
artistic eye and years of experience allow him to artistically
capture meaningful moments as they occur. Not only does he
photograph the traditional poses, but captures a visual
narrative of your moments that cannot be posed or recreated
In his most recent years, Rob has blended his love for
photography with that of painting. Using different techniques,
he paints watercolors over his photographs to give an
attractive painter’s quality to beautiful and scenic
photographs. In more detailed portraits, Rob paints a
brushstroke overlay to enhance the artistic quality of your
portrait.
